10. A positive cash flow life is worth it!
6/30/2023
Is a positive cashflow life worth the effort? It is.
Wisdom is a worthy thought to think about and to work towards.
Wisdom is defined as “the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement; the quality of being wise.” 1
In Hebrew the word Hakmah “The word for wisdom in the Old Testament is hakmah. It was a common word used to describe Great Skill. A skilled craftsman – hakmah! A skilled musician – hakmah! The writer of Proverbs captures this idea and applies it to godly living – he calls us to be skilled in godly living – to live hakmah lives! 2
When we started on our journey most of us were not taught how to properly spend money, let alone to the penny. “The old saying, “take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves, was reformulated by the great Scottish American businessman Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) for use by managers: Watch the cost and the profits will take care of themselves. 3
It takes time, skill, and attention to get you to your goal of Positive Cashflow. Some of the simple things are hard but necessary. Track your income (money) coming in. Track your expenses (money) going out. Pre-plan for spending in the future. Save for those spending items. Review your progress frequently and often to stay on the correct track. I heard a story on how 1 degree off on a ship’s course in the ocean without constant review and correction will make your destination miles different. The same for your finances, in having positive or negative cash flow.
When you have more money coming in or staying in your bank account, then going out … you could be living a positive cashflow life. Confirm the details and then invest for future growth. A great technique if you are just beginning can be … Use extra bank accounts to protect yourself from yourself.
Whenever you are on the path to success you will stumble, fall, and make mistakes and some of those mistakes could be major mistakes. People may laugh, and even criticize your lifestyle but have confidence in knowing that you are on a path, your success path. During my journey I have made a lot of mistakes in my financial path. I hope you have been successful, but in case you have not been successful, review, and reset if necessary to get you on the right path. Know that, like it or not you will have learned something along the way. Experience is the best teacher even though sometimes it is harsh. Regardless of what part of this journey you are on, it is never too late to start, restart or continue in the current forward direction.
To live a positive cashflow life there will be some skill involved and action to accomplish. I am here to help, call if interested.
